James Braithwaite was one of two young men who emigrated to Australia from Rimington and were enlisted in the Australian Armed Forces. Sadly they were both killed in action. The initial research on these two men carried out for the publication 'Craven's Part in the Great War' was done by Dorothy Falshaw (Gisburn) and Shirley Penman (Clitheroe). Subsequently (February 2021) Shirley has provided the following information from the Australian archives.
